Operating on a 5.8 GHz frequency, the EXAI5580 offers analog transmission that automatically scans between 20 different channels to find the clearest one. With subscription to local service, you can make use of Call Waiting Caller ID features, which notify you of the name and number of the person calling. Up to 30 names and numbers are stored in the handset's memory, along with the date and time of the call. You're even able to access this list of numbers while you're in the middle of call, making it easy to pass along contact information among friends. A three-line backlit LCD screen makes everything easily legible. The digital answering system utilizes a microchip to store messages, giving them improved clarity and a longer life. The system has up to 15 minutes of recording time available; voice prompts can be set to Spanish, French or English. You can also set the system to announce only, so callers hear your message but can't leave one themselves. The handset includes a headset jack for hands-free calling, and is hearing aid compatible. A simple volume switch allows you to adjust the setting to a comfortable level. The base can be located on a desktop or mounted on a wall. For some reason it is very difficult to hear the other person even with the volume on high. Wish I had not bought it. Some day I'll replace it.
